Job title: Management Accountant

Reporting to: Svella Plc Chairman

Location: Carlisle, Cumbria

Job summary: 

Svella Plc is an investment and acquisition vehicle set up to raise funds and acquire controlling interests in underperforming businesses and assets.  During the past 12 months, Svella Plc has invested in three trading businesses and a property development portfolio, with many more interesting targets in the pipeline. 

An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our growing portfolio of investments with responsibility for managing the accounts and financial business of the Topco, as well as working closely with the Svella Plc Chairman, Board and Management team on a series of financially led projects.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Day to day management of cashbook and longer term cashflow management

  • Management of banking relationships

  • Management of intercompany balances with trading companies

  • Production of quarterly management accounts

  • Production of VAT returns

  • Process management for year-end audit and annual reporting

  • Specific financial support for the JV (Residential Property) part of the Group

  • Production of investor presentations

  • Support other financial projects across the investment portfolio

  • General financial support to the Chairman

Skills, qualifications and experience required:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)

  • Previous management accountant experience

  • Organised

  • Self-motivated and ability to effectively manage own time and caseload

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage a busy workload

  • IT proficient, specifically Microsoft Excel and Word

Salary and benefits

£45 – 55k, depending on experience, plus competitive benefits.
